all:sports now jd:sports!

So all:sports has finally been taken over, but seems that their name will stay. Rumours also have it now that Charlton can take the remaining money of their sponsorship, they have a clause which means they can change their shirt sponsor with immediate effect. Only time will tell.

Taken from Image hosted by Photobucket.com:'The owner of JD Sports has bought troubled rival Allsports, a month after it went into administration with the loss of more than 1,300 jobs. The administrator closed 92 stores earlier this month and staff were made redundant at the head office and central warehouses in Bredbury, near Stockport in Greater Manchester.

Allsports was the fourth largest sports retailer in the UK with 270 stores before it was hit by a significant decline in sales and a price war among sportswear retailers. JD has bought the remaining 177 stores, which will continue to trade under the Allsports brand alongside its own JD Sports outlets.

It has also taken on Allsports' debt, believed to be around £18m. The company has also revealed an upturn in profits for the first half of the year from £1.8m to £2.8m. Earlier this month the company warned that trading had been disappointing since July 30 due to increased competition and the London bombings, saying the Christmas period would be crucial.

Executive chairman Peter Cowgill said: "We believe that, since the disposal of the under-performing stores, the remaining Allsports stores offer an exciting opportunity to expand the offering of JD to our customers."'

Could this be our shirt if the stores were to rebrand? Or will the search start all over again?

Match Report: Charlton 0 - 1 Bolton

From one extreme to another. Yes, Charlton's historic win over Chelsea midweek, a game to remember for years to come, has the horrible grey sky of a loss over Bolton today. A game I was looking forward to seeing to cheer on the lads after the midweek win. A great day it should have been. But as soon as I get to the stadium, a little damp atmosphere. Darren Bent was out as he was ill. I was gutted, but in came Bothroyd, a player who I thought deserved his chance regarding his recent cup and reserves performances.
The first half performance was strong, a half which had a Darren Ambrose disallowed goal for something like handball, and another shot from him which hit the side netting, but looked in. I thought we could continue this into the second half, but unfortunately that wasn't to be. After immense pressure from Bolton, they eventually broke the deadlock and scored what was to be a simple tap in. Unfortunatley we couldn't get anything back and it finished 1-0. I was gutted, but for some reason not that bothered! Just a shame as the next match at home is against Man Utd!

Match Report: Chelsea 1 - 1 Charlton (CAFC win 5-4 on pens)

What can I say. There area few matches where I have to say "I Was There" being a Charlton fan, and tonight was one of them. Charlton Athletic FC, that little club from South London knocked out the 'He Big Spender's' Chelsea from the Carling Cup.

With a few changes, Perry out, Smertin out etc, I didn't have too much hope going into the game. A strong second half performance from Charlton when an unmarked John Terry appeared in the box in time for a corner and headed the home side one nil in front. I thought to myself that the match was over, despite only being one nil down, but obviously the Charlton players were not giving up that easily, a mistake backpass from Robert Huth meant Darren Bent could cooly slot home to equalise. We all went mental. 1 all at the interval.

A strong second half for both teams meant that Charlton could not score a winner and the game was taken into extra time. An achievement in itself.

Pretty poor extra time, with a couple of chances for each team, but the tired legs were showing, especially with El Kakouri spenind the last 5 minutes on the sideline with cramp. It was to be settled by a penalty shoot out.

Chelsea scored their first, and Benty scored ours. Stephan Andersen made an amazing save to deny Robert Huth for Chelsea's second. We scored all ours until the fouth, and so did Chelsea.

It all came down to Didier Drogba, miss it and Charlton win, score and the pressure is on our last taker. He slotted it home.

So up stepped Brian Hughes, calm and cool. Most of our fans couldn't bare to watch, me included. The Chelsea fans behind the goal are making noise, banging and waving. Hughesy steps up and WHACK INTO THE BACK OF THE NET, CHARLTON HAVE JUST KNOCKED CHELSEA OUT OF THE CARLING CUP

EFFING YES. Our little section of 3000 fans in the shed end erupted. I, myself, was running up the stairs, shaking everyones hand, hugging etc. It's like we had won the cup, we had beaten the Premiership Champions and also the first team to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge since Morinho took over.

The atmosphere outside the ground was electric. I had a few Chelsea fans come up to me and shake my hand. We had done it. One of the best nights I had ever seen being a Charlton fan...

...now wheres my passport, we're going to Cardiff!

Match Report: Pompey 1 - 2 Charlton

Well Well Well, Charlton back up to second, and having a laugh! My second away game of the season took me to Pompey, down on the lovely South Coast, at lovely Fratton Park with the lovely uncovered stand and the lovely British weather looking like it would hammer it down upon us. But know, this was Charlton's day.

Curbishley made a few changes to the starting team, and we played atrociously in the first half. Not long before Silva got a ball at the edge of the area and Pompey were one nil up.

The rest of the half was despicable and the break was welcomed.

In the second we seemed to pull our socks up and get into the game. It was a little while when our pressure was rewarded, when Ambrose had a through pass from Murphy to his feet he had no choice but to rifle it into the back of the net. Our fans went mental! We were back in the game.

We were all over them in the second half, and then finaly the breakthrough, Rommedahl made himself some space to the right of their box, it seemed to narrow for him to get a shot him, but not in his head, he shot the ball and it went in the top left hand corner of the net! GET IN!

An amazing day and an amazing match, back up to 2nd and our away record still 100%

Match Report: Charlton Athletic 1 - 1 Fulham

A night match on a Monday night infront of the Sky cameras, boy do I love night matches! But this one was not to turn out all good! The match started fairly slowly, but Rommedahl managed to shoot and hit the post. Gutted! With more than a handful of chances for us, it seemed that Fulham would succome to the pressure, but instead, they got a free kick and because of our sloppy defending, they scored through a Collins John volley. This was what it finished at half time.
We came back out in the second half on top, and a cross which Rommedahl mishit left Murphy with acres of space and he whacked it into the bottom left hand corner! Great goal. At this point I thought we would win, but it didn't come to that. With many more chances missed, notably a header from Perry and a volley from Rommedahl, we should have taken all three points. A wasted opportunity.

Oh Danny Boy!

Yep, so the second Premiership player of the month is the one, the only Danny Murphy. His amazing form over the past month has not gone unnoticed by The FA and he has rightly been awarded the second award of the season, the first going to our bobby dazzler Darren Bent. Congratulations Danny, well deserved!

Young for Club and Country

Despite Svens continuum of unexplained tactal formations and choice of Crouch, he has made a lot of Charlton fans happy nationwide by the inclusion of Luke Young in the first squad. Young rightfully won our player of the year award last season by putting in quality performances throughout the season impressing both fans and pundits alike. Appearing in our last match of the Qualifying stage, he now holds a new Charlton record for the most international caps, beating Powells previous of 5. Luke has captured the the hearts of unexpecting England fans with his striker-esque runs and solid attempts at driving the team to success. Down the pub I hear shouts of 'Go on Lukey!' among the general banter and confusion of Svens undying love for the stick-man himself, Crouch. With all the focus on Young, people have been excluding Charlton's hottest prospect, Bent. Being the joint top and top English scorer in the World's best league apparently isn't enough to secure his place, or to warrent an appearance in national team. Reality is best highlighted when your national team is in competition and Spurs fans are questioning why Sven hasn't chosen a rivals striker. Bent is far superior to Crouch in everywhere, my opinion isn't biased, it is immediately evident from his performance this season. Peter may be 12 foot tall, but Darren has scored a respectable amount of goals from air-born situations, remind me, how many goals has Crouch got this season? None. K. End of discussion. Now that England have qualified and we have our foothold on the final path leading into the World Cup, Bent still has a good chance to make an impression and get his chance to earn his first senior cap. I suspect that he will nab a goal or two as a little 'f**k you' present to Sven for being an ignorant c**k and not realising he has more potential than Crouch and the whole of Milwall put together.

Match Report: Exeter City 1 - 4 Charlton Athletic

No pictures and Sketchy information, but a quick report on this Friendly Game. Jay Bothroyd Scored a Hat Trick with three excellent goals and Bryan Hughes scored another great shot. Exeter got one back when Kelly Youga fouled a Grecian in the penalty area but that was all they were to get. Bothroyd certainly impressed and could force his way on to the bench, at least, against Fulham!

Man Of The Match:Jay Bothroyd

Jerome Thomas - England (U21!!!) Superstar!

Tonight Jerome Thomas scored his 1st England goal for the U21's in a 4-1 win over Poland. A great performance from the Charlton midfielder and what a representative of the club!

Bent: will he or wont he?

Darren Bent: Premiership's top scorer - 7 goals and 1 in the league cup. An amazing start, an amazing signing. Surely the player to get us into Europe. Yes this is all true, but what we want to know is will Sven start him this Saturday against Austria. Rooney is out as he is suspended and Owen will certainly start, but who will partnet him. In theory if Sven looked at his strikers form's recently, Bent comes top by miles, Defoe next and then Crouch. But why is Crouch even there? He has not scored a goal this season and the only good thing about him is his height. Defoe has scored a couple but Bent is on fire at the moment. I'm sure if he does play, he will score. But I very much doubt he will from the start! I mean he plays for Charlton, yes that little club who is 2nd in the league, no one ever starts for England when they play for Charlton, do they!? This is getting ridiculous now, as we have produced many great England players in Parker, Young and Powell. It is now Bent's time to shine and score the goals that will take us to Germany next summer! So Sven, play Bent and lets get England into the World Cup, forget Gerrards ramblings that Crouch is amazing and put the young lad from South London in the starting line up.

Bent and Young called up

Darren Bent and Luke Young have been named in Sven Goran Eriksson's England sqaud for next weeks internationals! Great for them, shame that Danny Murphy hasn't been named in the squad as well! I'm sure if he continues his form, he will be there soon!

Match Report: Charlton 2 - 3 Tottenham Hotspur

3rd Match at home, 2nd loss, 2nd half = crap. What's wrong with us!? Second in the league and all looks good going into the match as favourites.

With HH out for The Elk, I was hoping for a win. A slow start to the first, 20 minutes in, a ball gets through to Bent and it looks like he is going to miss it, but no, he burys it. Yes, we went mental, we were beating the spuds. Another sitter was missed by Bent, but we went in 1 nil at the break.

The second started with no changes, Bent is up in the box, looks like he is crowded out by the Spuds defence but somehow manages to rifle a shot into the top left corner. 2-0 and most people are not back from there half time drink!

Unfortunately for us, 3 minutes later, a cross gets into the box and deflects of King into the other side of the net from Andersen. Damn.

But the worst was yet to come, Young misses a sitter, Spuds equalise with a great shot from Mido and Bent gets subbed off for Bartlett because he seemed injured.

With the ref on there side, Spuds get us on the counter attack and score. 3-2. I had my head in my hands. I could not believe it. We threw away a 2 goal lead for an abysmal half. Bartlett missed a sitter (NO SURPRISE THERE!) and Luke Young narrowly missed a shot right at the dead of the game. We were all over them for the last 10 minutes but couldn't find the equaliser. That was that. We were crap. what is up with our second half performances?

Man Of The Match:Darren Bent (only decent player)
