Match Report: Aston Villa 1 - 0 Charlton

The 3rd and final Midlands Premiership away match was against Villa on a cold Saturday afternoon. Making the way up there for my 4th away game of this season with my mates, I did have a gut feeling on the way up that this wasnt going to be that day. I had that confirmed when we reached Villa Park, in deepest and darkest Birmingham, and our team was read out. A place on the bench for Danny Murphy and no sign of Rommedahl at all.

The match started with a minutes silence for George Best, who died on Friday, and I was really annoyed, as well as many Charlton fans I'm sure, for these "FANS" of Charlton chanting "Wife Beater" when the silence started. One other fan told him to shut it. He was threatened to be kicked out.

The attendance for the match was poor, but it didn't stop us getting behind the lads. A closely wide shot from Darren Bent was our only first half opportunity and the sides went in even at the interval.

The second half we seemed to liven up the pace, but unfortunately, in a moment of a scramble at the edge of our area, Villa hit the bar, had a shot blocked and then blasted it into the back of the net. We had 20 minutes to equalise and possibly win, but it wasnt to be. We had lost. Our 4th on the trot.

The atmosphere was really good and I have visited another ground. Just ashame about the result.

From Valley to Villa

This Saturday brings the chance for the Addicks to recoup their good run when we play Aston Villa at Villa Park. A good away support will show up with us Valley Faithful cheering the boys on. It will be my 3rd Premiership away match of the season with Chris and a new fan Josh. So lets find our voices and cheer on the lads!

Match Report: Charlton 1 - 3 Man Utd

A first visit to The Valley in 3 weeks for me. I was well psyched up for the match! A pre match beer to warm me up in the freezing cold and wearing my warm parker (not judas one!!) I took to my seat to see what would hopefully be an amazing match. A poor start as usual was rewarding for Man Utd with Alan Smith on target in the 38th. A driven shot from outside the box. It finished at half time with United's advantage. The second half performance was almost like a different Charlton team playing. We played really well and our pressure was rewarded with a wonder goal from Darren Ambrose. A great shot to add to the already great atmosphere and the bolts The Valley's roof must have been ready to fall off! Unfortunately 5 minutes later Van Nistelrooy managed to get a turn and shoot volley in. Gutted. Adding to that 10 minutes later with a driven shot from outside the box.

A good performance from the lads wasn't worthy of a defeat, we were unlucky but there are still many areas we need to improve on. Villa should be good!

England 3 - 2 Argentina

A great match to watch down the pub, Lukey Young wearing the England colours for Charlton, and a great result. Probably the best England match I have ever watched! We went 1-0 down thanks to Crespo, but Rooney got one back minutes later. 10 minutes into the second half, the Argy Bargies scored again. DAMMIT! It almost looked like it was all over, especially when Sven took Lukey off for CROUCH! Goddamit! Then 87th minute, Owen heads it into the back of the net. The pub went mental. But 2 minutes into extra time, England weren't finished, Owen jumps, GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!! Wheatsheaf erupts! What a game, what an atmosphere, what a performance!

Darren Ambrose hit the French net with a bang last night in the U21 international qualifier for the World Cup. 2 minutes was all France had to wait to get a good headstart for the second leg when Ambrose whacked the ball into the back of the Frogs net! Good on ya Darren!

Match Report: Blackburn 4 - 1 Charlton

What can I say? Well there really isn't much to say. From speaking to my friends who travelled and also by my view on MOTD, we were dreadful. A wonderstriker in the 2nd minute from Blackburn set them off and they scored another 3 past us. We did get one back through a brave scrambled goal by Hughesy and some could argue that we should have had a couple more in the latter periods of the match, but in all seriousness, this was a performance to forget.
