The crazy decision to call off a match 20 minutes before kick off, all the way up in the North, was tragic news to 500 or so Charlton supporters last night. The referee had given the all clear for the pitch at around 7pm but 20 minutes later the Safety Official stepped in to postpone the match due to "safety reasons". It may have been the slippiness around the ground, who knows, but if I was one of those travelling Charlton fans, I would not have been happy!

What can you get these days for a fiver? A CD, couple pints down the pub, a magazine, or a ticket on the Valley Express. Yesterday for the match against Arsenal, I took the Valley Express for the first time from Pease Pottage Service Station, Crawley direct to The Valley. A great service this was. Running on time, got us to the ground for a couple of pre match pints and all on board were great. It felt great to be in a coach surrounded by people who have the same passion of a football club as I do. Cheaper than a train and more reliable, it is no wonder why the first Fan pickup service in the Premiership has been copied by West Brom up in the Midlands. If you haven't tried the Express yet, you must. It is great.

And so our bad run continues, but today we can take credit from the match, a match full of comical errors and ridiculous decisions by the referee. Myself taking the excellent Valley Express for the first time was hoping for a last Chrimbo present of some winning goals and on arrival I saw a Charlton team full of recalls and changes with Fortune, Holland, Bartlett, Myhre and Sorondo with Curbs trying 4-4-2. Wishing, just wishing that these changes could bring us a result. A games which started really well and throughout the first half and most of the second I would say that we were the better team. Our passion was rewarded with the sight of a completely different looking team. It wasn't until the 58th minute when things started to go wrong. Arsenal were stopped by a great save by Myhre but unfortunately it fell to Reyes who put it in the back of the net. 1 nil down, still with 30 mins to go, maybe we could get something out of it. But the ref would put a stop to that. Two clear penalty decisions should have been rewarded, one with a blatent handball and another with Arsenal players holding one of ours back in the area. But Steve Bennett took a blind eye. With the feeling throughout the fans that the ref was being harsh on Charlton was confirmed when he sent Danny Murphy off for what looked like desent, because Murphy threw the ball down on the ground when Bennett gave another decision against us. It was not to be our day, with Lisbie returning to first team action, there was no point at all of him being on the pitch as he stood there motionless. With plenty of chances on our half, we should have got something out of the match. But it was a promising performance which hopefully we can take on to West Ham this Saturday, New Years Eve, and get our season back on track.

Man Of The Match:Thomas Myhre

I really don't know what to say now, two weeks ago I commented in how dissapointed I was at our recent performances and hoped it would recover. Come Sunderland I finally thought we may have turned around after a convincing win infront of the Valley Faithful. But those members of the Valley Faithful that witnessed the diabolical display in the North this past Saturday would have been flabbergasted. A result that would be seriously favoured for step up a gear and really get back on track, no matter how much Wigan have been performing in the recent weeks. What was thrown into the Charlton mixing bowl was: some very shoddy defending, chances thrown away, Kishishev, Hridarsson, Kiely, Young, Thomas as well as others and some poor link ups, which produced a 3 nil defeat to Wigan. I can't really comment apart from all three goals were sloppy, and our defence could be blamed for every goal, we should have been given a penalty and Bent had a chance to score a couple, but none of that happend, in a result needed as we face Arsenal, next on Boxing Day, with not a chance in hell of getting anything out of it. But lets just remember boxing day 2 years ago!

YAY! all:sports have gone and we welcome new shirt sponsor Llanera to The Valley. Out go the old all:sports banners and in come the new Llanera ones, to give an even more Spanish feel to the club. The Addicks have announced that no new shirts will be available until next summer, when we will be recieving a new home and away kit for the new season. Well, now we've got Joma and Llanera maybe they will rename the club to Charlton Athletico! Who Knows!

AT LAST! Allelujia, a home win, 2nd of the current season! After only a minute, Bent should have put the Addicks infront, but shot just wide. A great atmosphere surrouded The Valley, which got louder when Darren Bent cooly slotted home a 42nd minute opener with his left foot. Danny Murphy saw the space and fed Bent for him to finish. Going into half time 1 nil up was a real confidence booster. Minuted after the restart, a great run by Luke Young almost resulted in an own goal as the Sunderland players scuffed up the clearance, but again it fell to Young, who hit a short, low cross to Ambrose who had an open goal to tap into from inches. The match continued in our favour, with some amazing saves which kept us the 3 points. Chrissy Powell exited the pitch doing his famed Tunnel Jump once again. Lets hope we keep the run up!

Man Of The Match:Dean Kiely

Well another match report on CAFCBois. I sometimes wonder why I bother. Charlton is a club I will love for the whole of my life, through the highs and the lows, but the latter seems to be very hard to cope with. Seeing Charlton throw it away in the cup on Wednesday night seemed unbelievable. Thinking that one month earlier we knocked the Premiership and Carling Cup champions Chelsea out of that very cup, and watching a team who seemed that they could not be bothered was hard to take. Having been in France this weekend and rushing back to catch the game, I was hoping that my determination to see my team would give me a reward of a win. Shame as that would not happen. I can't really be bothered to write much about this thouroughly dissapointing match, but a summary:

Charlton 2 - 5 Man City

Thats all I can say. I'm speechless.

Now if we dont get a result against Sunderland next week at home, god help me!

Blackburn Rovers produced a sensational fightback against Charlton Athletic in the last 15 minutes to book their place in the last eight of the Carling Cup.

The 2002 winners looked to be crashing out before goals from Shefki Kuqi, David Thompson and David Bentley secured a 3-2 win for the visitors.

Charlton crashed to their fifth defeat in a row and they will wonder how they lost this match after seemingly cruising at 2-0.

Charlton had the first chance of the match after four minutes when Danny Murphy's neat flick set up Alexei Smertin only for his right-foot shot to be blocked by former Addick Andy Todd.

The game started at a frenetic pace but both teams struggled to keep hold of the ball with the tackles flying in.

Craig Bellamy should have put Rovers ahead on 13 minutes after being played in by David Bentley but his side-foot effort from eight yards was superbly saved by the recalled Dean Kiely in the Charlton goal.

Blackburn thought they had gone ahead on 18 minutes through Bellamy after a neat pull-back by Morten Gamst Pedersen, but it was disallowed after the assistant referee deemed that the initial cross by Brett Emerton had curled out of play.

Darren Ambrose had a good left-foot strike from around 20 yards on 21 minutes but Brad Friedel pulled off a smart save to parry it away to safety.

Charlton went ahead before half time through Darren Ambrose, as he was slipped in by Danny Murphy before rifling home with his right foot into the top right-hand corner.

Rovers should have equalised just before half time but Bellamy put it over from six yards after a deflected cross by Pedersen.

Charlton came out all guns blazing in the second half and Ambrose was only denied a second by a superb save from Friedel.

Charlton went 2-0 ahead just a couple of minutes later on 49 minutes, Murphy showing some nifty footwork to create space in the penalty area before coolly slotting home into the bottom right-hand corner.

Blackburn tried hard to get back into the game and after a powerful run by Steven Reid, Emerton shot straight at the keeper from 20 yards.

The visitors kept possession well for long periods of the second-half but were incapable of producing a final ball as Charlton sat back on their lead.

The introduction of Kuqi on 73 minutes for the lacklustre Emerton seemed to change the game as Blackburn went with two up front.

Kuqi got Rovers back in the game, two minutes after coming on, when he raced on to a through ball from Bellamy and poked the ball under the on-rushing Kiely.

Blackburn were back on level terms six minutes later after a sensational strike from the other substitute David Thompson. The ball broke to Thompson and, from all of 35 yards, he unleashed an absolute thunderbolt into the top right-hand corner to leave Kiely with no chance.

Blackburn carried on their momentum and, on 88 minutes, Pedersen found space in the area and unselfishly played in Bentley who sidefooted home to seal a remarkable comeback to take Blackburn through to the last eight.
